Who Should Apply This Upgrade?

This software must only be used to upgrade devices sold by O2 UK or its partners. If your xda has been supplied by your company, you should contact your IT department in the first instance for support.

What Happens If The Upgrade Doesn't Work?

The upgrade procedure and associated software have been thoroughly tested by O2 for ease of use and straightforward installation. In the unlikely event of an unsuccessful upgrade, please contact O2 Customer Services for additional support and help in restoring the device.

How Do I Confirm My Software Versions?

On your Xda:

• Select Start
• Select Settings
• Select System
• Select Device Information

What Do I Need To Do To Upgrade My Xda?

Using your PC to download the new software performs the system software upgrade. It is not possible to directly download the software to your xda. It is extremely important that you follow these instructions carefully - damage can occur to your Xda if you do not follow these instructions carefully.

To download you will need:

• A PC with Internet access
• Your Xda USB or serial cradle connected to your PC, and Microsoft ActiveSync 3.5 installed. (ActiveSync 3.5 can be installed from the CD provided with your Xda, or by visiting
• A 'partnership' set-up between your Xda and your PC.
• Step By Step Guide To Upgrade Your Xda

There are several steps to the upgrade process. Follow each step closely to ensure your upgrade goes smoothly.

Note: The upgrade process will erase all data and settings on your xda. Your xda will be restored to factory condition, as if you had just purchased the unit. Any 3rd party applications you have installed yourself will need to be re-installed after the upgrade process. Synchronising your xda with Activesync on your PC will ensure your contacts, calendar appointments, inbox items and tasks are stored on your PC - so when you establish a new partnership with the PC these items will be copied to Xda again.

Before you back up any data on your Xda, make sure you stop any running applications. To do this:

• Select Start
• Select Settings
• Select System
• Select Memory
• Select the Running Programs tab
• Select Stop All

After backing up your device, place your xda in the cradle and synchronise with Activesync.
